Wellington E. Olander is the managing director and head lawyer at W.E. Olander & Co. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Political Science from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, IOWA, a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B.) from The University of the West Indies, Barbados, and a Certficate of Legal Education (C.L.E.) from Norman Manley Law School, Kingston, Jamaica.

Mr. Olander was formerly an Assistant Director of Legal Affairs (A.D.L.A.) in the Chambers of the Attorney-General, Nassau, The Bahamas. Mr. Olander was admitted to the Bahamas Bar on the 27th October, A.D. 1989.

Mr. Olander is widely respected in the law community in The Bahamas with substantial bredth and depth in all areas of civil and commercial law in The Bahamas.

At resignation from The Office of the Attorney General Mr. Wellington E. Olander held the position of Assistant Director of Legal Affairs. Duties included acting at times as Director of Public Prosecutions, supervising attorneys in all aspects of Criminal prosecutions. Render legal opinions; give lectures relating to the Criminal Law to police, any government or quasi-governmental agency or public corporation. Appear as lead Counsel for any serious criminal matter before the Magistrate Court, Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

He has represented the Attorney-General Office at many Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) meetings. During the period 1992-1999 was the main Attorney responsible for Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty matters; and during the period 1997-1999 was the contact Officer in the Attorney General Office for all Suspicious Transaction Reports.

In 1997 he was a Participant at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FINCEN) and INTERPOL Working Group Meeting on the Analysis of Financial Records in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1999 a Participant at the Seventeen International Symposium on Economic Crime held at Jesus College, Cambridge England.

The transfer of title to real property in The Bahamas is by way of a deed of conveyance which must be signed by the transferor or vendor, and also be signed by the purchaser, if there are covenants contained in the deed.

Probate is the Certificate granted by the Probate Division of the Supreme Court of The Bahamas to the effect that the Last Will and Testament of the deceased person has been proved and registered in the Court.

In The Bahamas, companies can be incorporated under the Companies Act, 1992 (“Domestic Companies”) and under the International Business Companies, Act (“IBC’s”).

Mr. Olander claimed a vast amount of knowledge in regulatory and anti-money laundering practices during his tenure as Assitant Attorney General in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
